Most of us have never planned a wedding before, so how can we become an expert in an unknown territory?
The answer: trust your wedding professionals, and trust your vision.
How many times have you seen an ad pop up on Facebook or Instagram, offering a one-size fits all approach to planning the biggest day of your life thus far?
We are not cookie-cutter humans, so why would we listen to a cookie-cutter strategy? I am about to provide you with 3 actionable steps that you can take to ensure your big day is beyond your wildest dreams. These steps are unique to you, because you are the only you out there!
1. Stay true to your tastes.
Have you ever seen a wedding on Instagram, and drooled over the photography, flowers, and venue? Can you think of a time where you saw a wedding photo, and were secretly thrown off by a detail or color scheme? Start saving this content in 2 separate categories: me or not me. Once you know what you don’t want, it’s easier to find out what you do! There is so much content out there, and the beauty of it is that it’s all free! Thoughts become things, and you are in charge. Start taking charge, and bring your vision board to life.
2. Look for consistency.
Consistency breeds trust. I repeat, consistency breeds trust. When choosing your venue, photographer, florist, etc., you should be keeping an eye out for two things: growth and patterns. Is your photographer posting photos, all edited differently all over social media, or is their editing style and posing system consistent? You can only know what you are getting if you do your research, so keep an eye out for trends followed in your vendor’s own style, and make sure it’s a style that you like! You can express this to your vendors, too.
3. Buy based on personality.
When choosing your vendors, you always want to go with someone you like! Imagine a wedding day where everyone is getting along smoothly, the quality of venue, flowers, photos, etc., is to die for, and your vendors have a smile on their face along with your friends and family, as they fit right in! This IS possible, if you buy from people you like. When only focused on aesthetics or price, we miss out on the actual experience of our special day. I encourage you to start your buying process with a phone interview, and move from there.
Best wishes, and happy planning!
